Quick tips

Today tab. Opens with the day's snap stack. Tap to read; tap "Got it" to mark complete and queue the next snap.
Timeline tab. Browse source-noted snaps chronologically.

Daily snap nudge

In Settings > Daily snap nudge, toggle the reminder on and pick a time. Notification permission is asked the first time you turn it on, never at app launch. All reminders stay on this device.

Location

HistorySnap v1 does not request location permission. A future Map or nearby-sorting feature would require a separate opt-in permission prompt.

Streaks

Your streak counts consecutive days you completed at least one snap. Missed days break the streak. Best streak is preserved.

Source notes and uncertainty markers

Each snap cites a source and marks dates, attributions, or locations that are approximate. Look for "c." for "circa", "around" for approximate years, and "according to" or "attributed to" for non-consensus claims. HistorySnap is general-reader education content, not academic citation-grade research.

Premium

The free tier includes the daily snap loop, World History Basics, Balkan History Starter, timeline browsing, and up to 10 saved snaps. Premium is a one-time lifetime unlock for unlimited saved snaps. To restore Premium on a new device, tap Settings > Restore purchases.

Delete data

Settings > Delete all local data. Confirm. This removes every snap state, saved snap, review item, daily-snap record, streak day, and settings row. Premium unlock is preserved by design. This cannot be undone.

FAQ

Does HistorySnap sync across devices? No. v1 is fully on-device. Each device tracks its own progress.
Can I export my data? Not in v1.
Why doesn't the app ask for notification permission at launch? Notification permission is requested only when you turn on the daily nudge, never up front.
Is HistorySnap a classroom curriculum or museum guide? No. HistorySnap is short general-reader history and culture summaries. It does not replace a classroom, museum, textbook, or qualified historian.
Are the dates always exact? No — many historical dates and attributions are approximate. We mark uncertainty with "c.", "around", "according to", or "attributed to".
